A: In New Jersey, we proudly service Bergen, Essex, Hudson, Passaic, Morris, Sussex, Warren, Hunterdon, Monmouth, Ocean, Middlesex, Union County, and beyond; and in New York, Rockland and Westchester Counties.
Q: Can you provide dental care to people that live in nursing homes and assisted living facilities?

A: Absolutely! We have experience working in private residences, Skilled Nursing Homes, Independent Care Facilities, Assisted Living Facilities, Residential Care Centers, Retirement Communities, Hospitals, and Special Needs Daycare Centers. We are the preferred provider of mobile dental services for over one hundred and fifty nursing homes and assisted living centers throughout New Jersey, giving special attention to older adults and individuals with disabilities.
Q: How is dental treatment performed apart from the dental office?
A: Combining years of dental experience and the use of portable state-of-the-art equipment, we can transform any location into a portable dental office. Our portable dental unit (about the size of a large suitcase) is wheeled into the patient’s home. It features a drill, high and low velocity evacuation system, air/water syringe, a self contained compressor and bottled water. In addition, there is a hand- held x-ray unit. Various sterilized instruments and dental materials are also brought in according to the type of treatment being rendered.
Q: Where in the home do you treat the patient?
A: Most often, the living room, dining room, kitchen or bedroom. Treatment can take place while the patient is seated in a recliner, wheel-chair, or even lying in bed. The objective is to keep the patient as comfortable as possible.
Q: What type of dental care can be provided?
A: We provide the same services as an in-office Dentists including: Consultations, Treatment of Emergencies, Repair of Broken Teeth, X-rays, Cleanings, New Full and Partial Dentures, Reline Old Dentures/Partials, Denture Repair, Fillings, Bonding, Extractions, Treatment of Gum Infections, Root Canals, Crowns and Bridges
Q: Can confused/uncooperative patients be treated at home?
A: Yes, Visiting Dental Associates, PC has vast experience dealing with all kinds of patients, including those with Alzheimer’s and dementia. Our dentists are friendly, patient and professional in treating these patients and use special techniques and equipment designed to be safe and comfortable for medically compromised patients.
Q: Do your dentists have experience working with mentally challenged patients?
A: Our patients have many mental and physical challenges. We have experience treating patients (both young and old) with Trisomy 21, Cerebral Palsy, Pulmonary diseases, Alzheimer’s, Parkinson’s, dementia, agoraphobia, paralysis, Multiple Sclerosis, Stroke, Autism, Diabetes, Spinal Cord Injury, and Lou Gehrig's Disease (ALS). After 25 years of service, we probably have had at least one compromised patient with every diagnosable medical condition.
Q: How does the cost of “At Home” dental services compare to that of the traditional dental office?
A: Visiting Dental Associates, P.C. is fee-for-service based, charging customary fees for the state of New Jersey (plus a nominal fee to for travel time and expenses).
Q: Do you take dental insurance?
A: Currently we are not participating providers with any private dental insurance company. We are happy to provide assistance in filling out and submitting the appropriate insurance forms with reimbursement being sent directly to the insured.
Q: Are home dentistry services covered by Medicare?
A: No. Unfortunately, Medicare does not cover most dental treatment, including dental services provided in a more traditional office setting.
